Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Aims and objectives of the organization: i) Protection of forests, wildlife and maintenance of ecological balance,ii) Enrichment of forests by way of artificial regeneration and silvicultural operation,iii) Management of forests for sustained yield,iv) Enforcement of Laws relating to forests, wildlife, environment and ancillary there-to,v) Conservation of forests, by bottom-up-approach, involving forest fringe villagers by way of constitution of community bodies, vi) Extension of forest cover in the line of National Forest Policy, vii) Motivation of people for protection of forests and wildlife, viii) To impart technical guidance. 2) Mission/ Vision: Amongst others, salient are; i) Improvement of quality and density of existing high forests, ii) Enrichment and value addition of degraded forests, iii) Active participation of people in forests protection, management and conservation, including wild-life, iv) Extension of livelihood support through forest products,v) Minimization of dependence on forests by socio-economic improvement and sustainable rural development, in and around forest fringe villages. 3) Brief history and background for its establishment: This is a territorial Forest Division, since 1920. The Division was proud for it's dense and valuable forests. Sal and Piasal were the pioneer species with the rising trend of forest degradation, the density has comedown to varying density of 04 to 07. The forest are spread over 22 Reserve Forest, covering 92,048.47 Ha. 4) Organization Chart: Ghumsur North Division, Bhanjanagar has 05 (five) field establishments for smooth and effective management vis-a-vis achieving its aims, objectives and mission. The details are; i) Mujagada Range: Headquarters at Bhanjanagar,ii) Central Range: Headquarters at Bhanjanagar,iii) Gallery Range: Headquarters at Dholopita,iv) Tarasing Range: Headquarters at Tarasing,v) Jagannathprasad Range: Headquarters at Jagannathprasad. Each of the above establishments is headed by Range Officer, who is assisted by Foresters, being in-charge of Sections. Sections comprise of Beats, as detailed: Sl.
