Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aim Objectives of the Organizations:

   This is a Territorial Forest Division. Nayagarh Forest Division was constituted by Govt. of Odisha vide Notification No.1282/ R dt. 3.2.1950 by merger of Daspalla Ex-State forest. The boundary of Nayagarh Forest Division is coterminous with the boundary limits of Nayagarh District, excluding the area of ranpur Tahasil and part of Daspalla Tahasil. The total geographical area of Nayagarh Forest Division is 3067.28 Sq. Kms. having 106316.65 Ha. of Forests. The 1st duty of this Department is to protect the forest wealth  and wild lives of Nayagarh District. Besides the above, massive  plantations are being taken up in Barren hills, Revenue lands, Reserve Forests and Protected Forests etc. to maintain the ecological balance of environment and to conserve soil erosion

2. Mission/ Vision:    

   Other activity like formation of Vana Samrakshyan Samities is a main factor of this division. By this system Forest fringe villages are allotted with some areas to protect as well as to plant various types of trees and the out turn of which they are entitled to avail in future. There are 250 Nos. of Vana Samrakshyan Samities are Existing in Nayagarh Forest Division as on Dec, 2009 who are actively participating in protection of forests also

3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:

   Forest Department is an old Govt. institution which is fetching a good amount of revenue to the state

4. Organization Chart:

   The office of the Divisional Forest Officer,Nayagarh Division  has seven Ranges namely Daspalla, Nayagarh,Nayagarh,Mahipur, Odagaon, Khandpara, Panchirida and Gania.The total cadre strength for this Division is 211

5. Duties to be Performed: 

   The earnest duty of this Division is to protect forest wealth and wild lives as well as to take of massive plantations

8. Working hours Both for Office & Public:

10 AM to 5 PM except Sundays and Govt. holidays

9. Public Interaction if Any:

   Public interaction is a common phenomenon as it is a territorial Division and deals with forest protection

10. Grievance Redress and Mechanism:

   Grievance cell of this office is being functioning all most in every day except Sunday and Govt. holidays by the D.F.O. and A.C.F. of this Division
