1. Brief history and background for its establishment:
Baripada Forest Division was created during the reign of King Mayurbhanj i.e. in 1897. Mayurbhanj state Forest ties between 22°-33'-45" and 21°-17'-0" North latitude and 85°-45'-30" and 87°-13'-15" east longitude and is bounded on the North by the Singhbhum Medinapur District on the south by Balasore District and state of Nilagiri and Keonjhar on the east by Balasore and Medinapur District.
2. Function and duties:
The basic ideology of this Forest Division is to protect Forest & Wildlife save environment and afforestation activities.

Protection of forest execution of work under different departmental schemes and other agencies like Non plan State plan Central plan Centrally Sponsored plan Capital Outlay Ashoka Bamboo CAMPA NREGA BRGF etc.
4. Duties to perform:
Making all efforts to save forest as well as execute developmental activities.
