Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1) Brief History of the Public Authority:

     This District Civil Supplies has been functioning independently with effect from 1.06.1993 after creation of new district Bhadrak being bifurcated from mother distrcit , Balasore with effect from 1.4.1993.

2) Main Objectives/ Functions of the Public Authority:

i) Strengthening public distribution system under different schemes such as AAY rice, BPL rice, Annapurna rice, APL wheat, Sugar and Kerosine oil.
ii) Procurement of paddy and delivery of rice/ CMR through different agencies & Miller agents.
iii) Revolving funds to GPs.
iv) Establishment of village grain Bank.
v) Construction of DCDRF building and purchase of non building assets.
vi) Monitoring of consumer awareness programme through NGOs & VCOs.

3) Strengthening of PDS:

4) Procurement of Paddy:

     Food and Procurement policy for KMS-2009-10 have been received vide FS&CW Dept. letter No. 21243 dt.5.10.2009.

The table below indicates agency wise target for Bhadrak district during KMS-2009-10.

     Also NBHC, NCMSC and PACSs have been allowed to procure paddy on behalf of OSCSC ltd., Bhadrak. OSCSC have already opened 60 service cooperative societies. Similarly NAFED has opened 15 purchase centres whereas MARKFED opened 9 FCI opened two paddy purchase centres. Miller agents are yet to open paddy purchase centres. The processing is going on District administration is very much alert to achieves the target.
