Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Name of the Public Authority:

Asst. Director of Fisheries-cum-C.E.O., F.F.D.A., Deogarh.

2) Objective/ Purpose Of the Public Authority:

The aims and objectives of the Public Authority are:

i) The main aim is to develop Inland Pisciculture in the light of modern technology, imparting training to the fisherman to adopt scientific pisciculture and assist them to avail institutional finance for excavation/ renovation and release of subsidy as per the norms of GOI.

ii) Production of quality fish seed in Departmental fish farms & distribution of the same to fish farmers.

iii) Encouragement offish seed production in private sector.

iv) Training to fish farmers on Scientific fish farming.                                                              

v) Information on availability of inputs.

vi) Awareness in recent advances in Aquaculture.

vii) Laboratory support for Soil and Water Quality Testing, Nutritional Requirements and Support for Disease control.

viii) Provides Exposure visit of fish farmers to local successful fish farms and modem farms of neighboring states.

ix) Development of Reservoir Fisheries with special reference to Stocking Management, Conservation and Fishing with Socio-Economic Upliftment.

x) In over the Entire Main Objective is Holistic Development of Fish & Fisheries of the District.

3) Brief History of the Public Authority and Context of its Formation:

   Pisciculture started receiving needed attention on setting up the FFDA in the District in the year 1995. The A.D.F.-cum-C.E.O., F.F.D.A. Deogarh looks after the Promotion of Pisciculture in the District. There is one FEO/ FS stationed at each Block Headquarter to look after the Production, Distribution of Fish Seed and Capture Fisheries along with development of new water bodies. There is one departmental fish farm located at Barcode to Cater the fish seed demand of the District.
