Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:
The Asst. Director of Fisheries-Cum-Chief Executive officer, Fish Farmers development agency, Baragarh is the head of the Public authority in respect of department of Fisheries of Bargarh district. The main objective of the Public Authority is to increase Fish production by encouraging fish culture in the district through providing quality commercial fish seeds/ prawn juveniles to the fish farmers and encouraging interested farmers to go for fish culture by excavating new tanks/ renovating old tanks/ utilizing G.P. Feasible tanks/ open water bodies etc.
2) Mission/ Vision Statement of the Public Authority:
The Public Authority i.e, ADF-Cum-CEO, FFDA, Bargarh's mission is to popularize the concept of fish culture by organizing Awareness camps, Training, Training for Skill up gradation, formation of SHG & Women self help group, Cooperatives and properly carry out the Govt. sponsored programmes to the people of Bargarh district.
3) Brief history of the Public Authority and context of its formation:
The Public Authority in respect of fisheries department of Bargarh district is appointed by Govt. of Odisha, on the Recommendation of proposal sent by the Director of Fisheries, Odisha, Cuttack. The Fisheries Office called as office of the Asst. Director of Fisheries-Cum-Chief Executive Officer, Bargarh is formed on 1994 after the bifurcation of Sambalpur district in 1994.
4) Duties of the Public Authority:
His duty is to implement various Govt. sponsored programmes successfully in the dist.
5) Main activities/ Functions of the Public authority:
The main duties of ADF-Cum-CEO, FFDA, Bargarh is briefed as follows:
i) He is responsible for providing quality fish seeds/ prawn seeds to the fish farmers in time as per the rates fixed up by the Govt. of Odisha.
ii) He is responsible for encouraging fish farmers to take up pisciculture in a scientific manner through its extension wings.
iii) He is responsible for taking up appropriate and timely action for utilization of available feasible water resources of the district for culture of fish by way of utilizing it.
iv) Utilize its functionaries effectively.
v) He is responsible for expansion of pisciculture in the district by way of excavation of new tank/ renovation of old tank/ utilizing open water bodies through the formation of cooperative/ utilizing feasible G.P. tanks by the benificiary/ S.H.G./ WSHG etc. with and without the help of Bank Finance through effective monitoring of FFDA programme in the district.
vi) He is responsible by providing subsidy as per the FFDA norms to the genuine fish farmers of the district.
6) List of Services being provided by by the Public Authority with a brief write up on them:
i) Providing spawn, fry, fingerlings to the fish farmers in time through production of quality fish seeds in the Govt./ Fish Farms of the district.
ii) Providing linkages between the fish farmers and the bankers for availing bank finance for development of pisciculture tanks.
