Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

Aims & Objectives of the Organisation:

Livestock development to increase production of milk, meat & egg by

(1) Prevention & control of disease reducing mortality & morbidity of animals strengthening Veterinary Services.
(2) Increase production capacity by adoption of appropriate technologies.
(3) To increase high yielding C.B. & Graded cattle population by genetic Up gradation.

Mission / Vision:

To rise the productivity of the animals to increase the house hold income of the under Developed & poor people of the Subarnapur District.
To achieve the per capita requirement of Milk, Meat & egg production of the District.
To Increase the no. of high productivity animals to develop the socio economic condition of rural poor by Genetic Up gradation of animals.

Brief History and back ground for its Establishment:

Office of the Chief district Veterinary Office, Subarnapur started functioning w.e.f. 01.04.1993 as new District was created. The Sub-Divisional Veterinary officer, Sonepur was acting as I/c Chief District Veterinary Officer till 28.02.2007 & from 01.03.2007 the post of Sub-Divisional Veterinary officer was Up Graded as Chief District Veterinary Officer. Since then the post of Sub-Divisional Veterinary Office was abolished and the Chief District Veterinary Officer, Subarnapur is looking after Sonepur Sub-Division along with Birmaharajpur. Sub-Divisional Veterinary officer, Birmaharajpur is under the administrative control of Chief District Veterinary officer Subanapur. 10 Veterinary dispensary and 37 LACs under Chief District Veterinary Officer, Subarnapur in the entire District.

Duties of the Public Authority:

Execution, Supervision & Monitoring Departmental programmes being implemented in the District by ARD Department.

Main Activities / Function of the Public Authority:

To provide health and breeding coverage to all animals and birds to render and monitor extension services to all the farmers.
