1. Aim and Objectives of the Organization:
For the Implementation of various programme of the Dept. of Culture, the Government have been pleased to establish the Office of the Dist. Culture Officer in each district of the State. The aim and objectives of the said office is to review the activities of the registered organizations of the concerned district which are getting financial assistance under various scheme like cultural grant, library grant etc.
a. To inspect the progress of conservations work in respect of old monuments.
b. To remain in charge of Museum of district.
c. To act as Liaison Officer in respect of the district level cultural programme organized by the Deptt. of Culture, Odisha Sahitya Akademi, Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi.
d. To identity and recommend the indigent artists for sanction of pension.
e. To take steps for renovation and development of traditional flok dance, folk badya, flok song, loka nataka of the dist.
f. To organize periodical cultural meets among various registered organizations and coordinate the same with the activities of culture Dept.
g. To organize district level function like Keonjhar Mahotsav to focus the rich culture hertigage of the dist.
h. To identify and recommend talents in various cultural activities for sponsoring them to national and international fields.
2. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:
This Office is functioning at District Heqdquarters, Keonjhar in a room of the Collectorate Building.

4. Working hours both for Office and Public:
From 10.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M on every Govt. working days and from 7.00 AM. to 1.00 PM (morning Office)
