Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aims and Objectives of the Organization:

    The Organisation is a Public Works Division entrusted with the Work of Construction and Maintainance of Public buildings of different Departments of the Govt. and roads under the control of Govt. of Odisha. works Deptt. with Territorial Jurisdiction of the Cuttack City, Banki and Salipur. It also undertakes works of other organizations on deposit basis under provisions of the OPWD code.

2. Mission and Vision:

a) To execute the works as per Standard Specification with a view to economy and best utilization of public money.
b) To maintain books of accounts for the purpose and realize Govt. revenue within the said purview.
c) The financial Rules. P.W.D. manuals and accounts codes are followed.

3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:

    The Cuttack (R&B) Division has the honour of being the oldest Division in the State. The history dates back to the later half of the Ninteenth century. From this Division other P.W.D. Division of the state have emerged during the process of evolution of the State P.W.D.

    As per the old records, the (drawings available) prior to 1930 the Division was called Cuttack Division under the Bihar & Odisha Govt. Thereafter it was called Southern Division and again renamed as the Cuttack Division subsequently. Thereafter re-organisation of P.W.D. into different wings, it was called the Cuttack (R&B) Division.

    The office building was initially having a plinth area of 6153 Sft. During 1937 some addition were made to the building enhancing the plinth area to 7400 Sft. There were also some subsequent addition which enhanced the plinth area to the present 10415 Sft.
