Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aim & Objective of the Organization:
This organization is known as Bargarh (R&B) Division. It is under the control of Engineer-in-Chief (Civil), Odisha, Bhubaneswar under the administrative control of Works Department, Odisha. The main aim and objective of this organization is to improve and maintain 100.200 Km. of State Highways, 154.392 Kms of Major district road and 199.80 Kms. Of Other district roads. Besides this division is in charge of annual maintenance and repair of 2,64,429.00 Sqm of non-residential buildings and 1, 16,985.00 Sqm of Government residential buildings.
2. Mission / Vision:
The Chief Engineer (D.P.I. & Roads) and Chief Engineer (Buildings), Odisha, Bhubaneswar provides funds basing on the budget allocation to improve and maintain roads and buildings. Estimates are prepared by this Division and technical sanction is accorded by the competent authority and works are executed as per provision contained in O.P.W.D. code.
3. Brief History & Background:
Burla (R & B) Division was bodily shifted to Bargarh and was renamed as Bargarh (R & B) Division on 12.07.2004 with an aim to create infrastructure development in Bargarh District and part of Sambalpur District
This division consists of four Sub divisions namely:a) Bargarh (R&B) Sub-division,b) Padampur (R&B) Sub-division,c) Burla (R&B) Sub-division andd) University (R&B) Sub-division at Burla.The Division is headed by the Executive Engineer with head quarter at Bargarh.
4. Allocation of Business:
Funds both under state Plan, centrally sponsored plan and non-plan are received from the Chief Engineer (DPI & Roads) and Chief Engineer (Buildings) Odisha, Bhubaneswar details of which are noted below.

The works are executed by this Division in accordance with O.P.W.D. code.
5. Duties to be Performed to Aachieve the Mission:
Estimates for all the projects identified to be taken up under state plan and non-plan is first prepared and technically sanctioned and get executed by inviting tender.
6. Details of Service Rendered:
The roads and building coming under this division are being improved and maintained by this Division thereby ensuing uninterrupted movement of vehicular traffic.
