Objective / Purpose of the Public Authority:
Implementation of Master Plan for Drainage Development in Coastal Areas.
Mission / Vision Statement of the Public Authority :
1.Maintenance of Naraj, Mahanadi & Birupa Barrage Project.2.Construction & maintenance of M.C.I.I. Project.3.To retrieve water logged areas of 1.91 Lakhs Hect. in coastal belt of Odisha.4.To control flood water in River Mahanadi, Kathajodi & Birupa during Flood through Naraj & Mahanadi Birupa Barrage & to provide water to Taladanda Canal,Kendrapara Canal & H.L.C. Range-I for Khariff & Rabi crop as per the requisition of authority providing the Irrigation.5.To provide Irrigation facilities to the tune of 5937 hector in M.C.I.I. Project.Brief History of the Public Authority and Context of its Formation:Office of the Chief Engineer, Drainage, Cuttack was created vide Department of Water Resources Letter No.26155 dated 12.07.2001 and started functioning with effect from 17.11.2001.
Duties of the Public Authority:
To carry out the Design & Planning, Approval of Estimates, Floating & Acceptance of Tender for execution of the work costing 3.00 Crore & above. Monitoring of progress of work and repair & maintenance of existing projects.
Main Activities/Functions of the Public Authority:
Implementation of different drainage and other work under different schemes like, C.R.F. / N.C.C.F., R.I.D.F., F.M.P., State Plan, Non Plan, A.D.B.
