Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1) Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:

i) To cater Tourist Information to Tourists.
ii) To Up-date Tourist Information from time to time.
iii) To Organize Tour Programme for Intending Tourists.
iv) To Popularize Tourist place of Odisha and other Tourism Potential like Fairs, Festivals, Handicrafts, Handlooms etc.
v) To Co-ordinate different Officer and Organizations for development of Tourism Industries.

2) Mission/ Vision Statement of the Public Authority:

     With a view to make the District of Puri the Major Tourist attraction, various are being undertaken.

They are:
i) Construction of Tourists Bunglow (Panthasala) at in Cuttack Dist.
ii) Preparing in Car Festival at Cuttack through opening of Tourism Stall.
iii) Preparing of Tourist Literatures District.
iv) Organization Awareness Awakening Programme through Tourism Quiz among School & College Students.
v) Identifications of new Tourists Spots.
vi) Organization of Training Programme for Local Tourist Guide- Training Programme for Local Tourist Guide for Cuttack District. The said training Programme has already been completed.
vii) Approval of Excursion Agencies, Hotels, Parkes, water Sports etc. like Projects will be Encouraged among entrepreneurs

3) Brief History of the Public Authority and Context of its Formation:

      The Tourist Officer, Cuttack has been designated as Asst. Public Information Officer Vide No.7963/ TSM Dt.23.9.2005.

4) Duties of the Public Authority:

i) To provide information to the Intending Citizen who will apply for information as mentioned in this hand-book.
ii) In case the information as asked by the Intending Citizen is not available with us the matter will be forwarded to the Public Relation Officer or to any other Asst. Public Information Officer from whom the required information will be available.
iii) Maintenance of Information Register in Form-F.
iv) Maintenance of Cash Register in Form-G.

5) Main Activities/ Functions of the Public Authority:

i) To implement decisions of Tourism Deptt. Govt. of Odisha with regard to Tourism promotional activities of the Cuttack District.
ii) To look after existing tourism infrastructure in the districts.
iii)  To Popularize Tourism Potentials of Odisha among the people through organization of exhibitions, Quiz and Awareness awakenening Programmes.
iv) To Cater Tourist information whenever required.
v) To attend V.I.P. Tourist.

6) List of Services being provided by the Public Authority with a brief write- up on them:

i) Tourist Information- This Office is well equipped with material like Tourist literatures both proceed and Non-period. It also prepares itinerary for Tourist. It also has Up-today Rail Air time table & Accommodation lists.
