1. Brief History of the Public Authority:

The Central Zone, Keonjhar was created vide G.O.No.3361/MG dt.26.03.1973 with Headquarters at Bhubaneswar. The zonal office shifted to Keonjhargarh on 01.10.1973. This office is one of the zonal offices of the Directorate of Geology, Odisha under the Department of Steel & Mines, Government of Odisha. It has jurisdiction over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore & Bhadrak in respect of mineral exploration.

2. Aim & Objectives of the Public Authority:

The objective of this zone office is to locate and assess the ore/ mineral resources over the districts under its jurisdiction by way of exploration comprising survey and geological mapping, trial excavation, core drilling and sampling.
