Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. History & Background of its Establishment:

     The Circle Mining Office, Cuttack is functioning in the Cuttack Development Authority Building Arunodaya Market, Cuttack Since 1984 and before that the Mining Activities of Cuttack District was controlled by Circle Mining Office, Jajpur Road. Now Mining Officer acting as the Head of the Office who is under immediate control of the Collector, Cuttack in respect of Mineral Administration & overall controlled by the Director of Mines, (O) Bhubaneswar Department of Steel & Mines, Government of Odisha.

2. Jurisdiction:

  •  Administration jurisdiction of the Circle Mining Office, Cuttack extends over four Districts namely Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh & Puri.
  •  Survey & Demarcation bearing area:- Watch and ward of Odisha Minerals (Prevention of Theft, Smuggling, Illegal Mining, Regulation of Possession, Storage, Trading & Transportation) Rules-2007.

3. Allocation of Duties:

  •  Inspect work of different mines under concerned jurisdiction.
  •  Inspect mineral transaction, transportation to ensure raising of mineral from Non-forest areas.
  • Development & Administration of Minor Minerals.
  • Odisha Minerals (Prevention of Theft, Smuggling, Illegal Mining, Regulation of Possession, Storage, Trading & Transportation) Rules-2007.
