Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Aims & Objective of the Public Authority:
This organization is known as Mining Circle Office, Jajpur Road, jajpur. The jurisdication of this organization covers over jajpur, Kendrapada and jagatsinghpur districts. This division (public authority) belongs to Department of Steel & Mines, Govt. of Odisha. The main aim this public authority is to assess and collect mining revenue from the leased out proper mines, provides technical guidance to the lessees for scientific mining, keeps close watch for proper mineral administration, processing of prospecting licence & Mining Lease applications and checks illegal mining of transportation of its territorial jurisdication. For discharging of assigned duties, this public authority is responsible to the Director of mines, odisha, Bhubaneswar.
2) Mission/ Vision statement of Public Authority:
To generate a good amount of mining revenue to the State Exchequre and better mineral administration in the districts of jajpur, kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur.
3) Brief History of the Public Authority and Contest of its formation:
This circle started functioning during the year Dt: 01.06.1958 headed by one Mining officer having its headquarter at jajpur Road, Jajpur and on Dt. 27.12.1976 the post of Mining Officer has been upgraded to the post of Senior Mining Officer & the post of Senior Mining Officer was redesigned to the post of Dy. Director of Mines on Dt:- 2.07.1990.
4) Duties of the public Authority:
This Public Authority functions at the grass root level and it's responsible for scientific mining of all the prospecting licenses and and mining leases granted by the government and administration of minerals deposit of its territorial jurisdiction. Interacts closely with the district Administration for Mineral development of the District.
5) Main Activities/ Function of the Public Authority:
Duties as enumerated in the Para 2-4 above maintained by the authority.
