Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Aim & Objective of the Public Authority: This organization is known as Mining Circle Office, Koraput. The jurisdiction of this organization covers over Koraput, Raygada, Nawarangpur & Malkangiri districts. This division (Public authority) belongs to Department of Steel & Mines, Govt. of Odisha. The main aim this public authority is to assess and collect mining revenue from the leased out mines provides technical guidance to the lessees for scientific mining, keeps close watch for proper mineral administration, Processing of prospecting license & Mining Lease applications and checks illegal mining or transportation of its territorial jurisdiction. For discharging of assigned duties, this public authority is responsible to the Director of Mines, Odisha, Bhubaneswar. 2) Mission/ Vision Statement of Public Authority: To generate a good amount of mining revenue to the State Exchequer and better mineral administration in the districts of Koraput, Raygada, Nawarangpur & Malkangiri. 3) Brief History of the Public Authority and Context of its formation: This circle started functioning during the year Dt: 01.06.1959 headed by one Mining officer having its headquarter at Koraput and on dt. 06.01.1981 the post of Mining Officer has been upgraded to the post of Deputy Director of Mines. 4) Duties of the Public Authority: This public authority functions at the grass root level and it's responsible for scientific mining of all the prospecting licenses and mining leases granted by the Government and administration of mineral deposit of its territorial jurisdiction. Interacts closely with the District Administration for Mineral development of the District. 5) Working Hours of the Office: Morning hours of the office: 10 A.M.Closing hours of the office: 05 P.M. 6) Staff Position as on 30.06.2010: Sl.
