Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. History & Background of its Establishment:

    The Circle Mining Office has been functioning at Baripada since Ex-Durbar period and its Head quarter is located at Baripada in the District Head quarters of Mayurbhanj.
    At present Mining Office is functioning in its own building since 1970 in front of Indoor Stadium of Baripada under the Administrative control of Director of Mines, Odisha and Deptt. of Steel and Mines, Govt. of Odisha.

2. Jurisdiction:

    Administrative jurisdiction of the Circle Minig Office, Baripada extends over three revenue district namely Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak.

Sub-ordinate offices under Circle Mining Office, Baripada:

i) Office of the Sr. Inspector of Mines: Badampahar
ii) Office of the Sr. Inspector of Mines: Gorumahisani

Survey and Demarcation of Mineral bearing area: Watch and  ward  of Odisha  Minerals  (Prevention of Theft,  Smuggling, Illegal Mining, Possession, Storage, Trading & Transportation) Rules 2007.

3. Allocation of Duties:

a) Inspect work of different mines under concerned jurisdiction.
b) Inspect mineral transaction, transportation to ensure raising of mineral from non-forest areas.
c) Development and administration of minor minerals.
d) Odisha Minerals (Prevention of Theft, Smuggling, Illegal Mining, Possession, Storage, Trading & Transportation) Rules 2007.
