Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1. Aims and Objectives of the Organization:

   This organization namely District Sports Office is solely responsible for the promotion of sports and games and youth affairs of the district at the various levels among the people and for the exposure of inherent talents from the grass root level to the National and International level.

2. Mission/ Vision:

   This organization exposes hidden budding talents from grass root level to national and international level through chalk outing Programme from Gram panchayat level to National level.

3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:

   The state Government has set up his own organization with Directorate, Sports and Youth Services, Odisha, Bhubaneswar at State headquarters and offices at the District Level.

4. Allocation of Business:

i. District Sport Officer
ii. Block and District Level Talent Scouting
iii. District Level Rural Sports
iv. District Level Women Sports
v. District Level inter school Sports
vi. District Level Youth Festival
vii. Organization of Sports Day
viii. Grant to Small Sports Association
ix. Senior Clerk, Custodian of different File Registers etc.

6.  Duties to be performed to achieve the Mission:

(i) Organization of block and District level talent scouting programme for admission in different sports hostels of the state by involving G.P.O.s. BDOs
(ii) Organization of District Level Rural Sports for the State and National level participation by involving BDOs/ GPOs.
(iii) Organization of District Level Women's Sports for the for the State and National Level by involving Municipality & NACs.
(iv) Organization of District Level Youth Festival for the State and National Level participation by involving different cultural association.
(v) Organization of District Level interschool competitions for State Level participation by involving different schools of the district.
(vi) Organization of Sports Day by involving different sports club and renowned sports persons.

7. Detail of service rendered:

   Through NGOs, reputed sports club, Neheru Yuva Kendra and different educational institutions.

8. Citizens' Interaction:

   To motivate the public for participation in sports and games.
