Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1. Aims & Objectives of the Public Authority:

   Aims and Objectives of District Sports office are to promote Sports/ Games and Youth activities in the District.

2. Mission/ Vision:

   This office looks forward to extent sports infrastructures in GP/ Block/ District, Promote Sports and Games as well as programme of Youth activities as per instruction of the Department of Sports  Youth Servicrs Government of Odisha.

3. Brief History & Background for its Establishment:

   Due to increased thrust and attention to sports and Youth Services matter, creation of Sports infrastructure for development of Sports & Games and implementation of various Youth Programme to wards National Integration Camp, Organization of District level Youth festival for participation in State/ National level competition, sending the Youth participants for Youth exchange programme and adventure sports programme Organized by the State Youth Welfare Board.

4. Allocation of Business:

First Schedule-VIII-Sports and Youth Services.

i) Sports:

a. Development of Sports in the District.
b. Imparting training for development of games.
c. Sports, School & Sports Hostel.
d. Organization of Rural Sports, Inter School, Women Sports as per instruction of Sports Directorate.
e. Grant in Aid to Association/ Organization/ Institutions applications are forwarded for the purpose.

ii) Youth Services:

a. Organization of District level Youth Festival.
b. Recommend the Name of Youth for participation in different youth Programmes organized by SYWB.
c. Forward the application of Educational Institution for Grand in Aid for Students Excursion/ Study Tour.

5. Duties of the Public Authority:

i. Main function is to implement the rule and regulation of Sports Department, Government of Odisha for promotion of Sports and Game in the District.
ii. It aims to create Sports and Youth activities, infrastructures for proper training/ Coaching, Organization of Sports & games and select for State participation.

6. Working Hours:

  Normal working hours both for Office & Public, except Sunday and Public holiday is from 10 A.M to 5 P.M.
