Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aims and Objectives of the Organization:

   The Sarva Siksha Abhiyan aims at providing Universal Elementary Education to all Children in the age group of 6 to 14 by 2010. The other goal of this programme is to Bride Social, Regional and Gender Gaps in Eduacation, with active participation of the community in the Management of Educational Institution. Following are the main Objectives of SSA.

i) All Children in Schools, Education Guarantee Centers, Alternate School, back to School Camps by 2003.
ii) All Children should complete five years of Primary Schooling by 2007.
iii) All Children will complete eight years of elementary Schooling by 2010.
iv) Focus on elementary Education of quality with emphasis on Education for life.
v) Bridge all Gender and Social Category gaps at Primary stage by 2007 and at elementary Education Level by 2010.
vi) Universal Retention by 2010.

   Considering the Colossal Dimensions of the project & the Financial implications involved.It is necessary to prepare a plan with details of the Objectives pertaining to the total School improvement, Pedagogical improvement, Strategic on improvement of School Curriculum, Utilization of existing resources, creating infrastructure etc. Thus to ensure a Comprehensive preview of all aspects & components of the project, preparation of plan is extremely important.

     In Kandhamal District SSA has started it's functioning from the year 2002-03 & completed its ten year functioning. During this period it has taken an attempt to enroll all the Children in the age group of 6-14 in the Schools, with Community participation. Efforts have also been taken to provide primary Schooling facilities within radius of 1 K.M & Upper primary schooling facilities within a radius of 3 K.M as per SSA norm. Attempts have been taken to provide infrastructure in shape of School Buildings, Drinking Waters facilities and Toilets on Priority basis.

2. Mission / Vision:

   To provide Access, Retention and quality Education to all the Children in the age group of 6-14 years by the year 2011.

3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:

   SSA, Kandhamal started its works in the year 2002. Its started work within the general framework of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan formulated by the Central Government.

4. Allocation Business:

   To Organize Primary and Elementary Education.

5. Duties to be performed to achieve the mission:

i) To create friendly and pleasurable atmosphere at School.
ii) To provides infrastructures to Schools.
iii) Impart training to teachers.
iv) develop quality education methods.
v) Provide Educational tools and equipments to Schools.
vi) Create Community awareness and pressure for Universal enrollment and retention.

6. Details Service Rendered:

i) Intervention for out of School Children.
ii) Pedagogical improvement in Schools.
iii) Infrastructure development.
iv) To reduce gender disparity in education.
v) Intervention for integrated education of differently able children.
vi) Provide quality education through computer aided learning process to identify Schools.

   Community Mobilization for affecting total enrollment and retention. Infrastructure Development through School Management of affairs of Schools by SMC, Mother Teacher Association & Parent Teacher Association.
