Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Brief History & Background of its Organization: Rural Works Division-II, Malkangiri under Rural Development Department, Government of Odisha has been created from 22.08.2007, Rural Works Division-II, Malkangiri under Rural Development Department, Government of Odisha has been jurisdiction under 02 (Two) assembly constituency i.e., Malkangiri & Chitrakonda of Malkangiri District. It looks after repair maintenance, improvement, Construction of Rural Roads, Bridges and culverts under RD Department in rural areas. It takes construction and repair works of Government, Building situated in rural areas and borne in the book of Rural Development organization as per availably of funds. There are 139 nos. of roads having length of 591.325 km out of which BT 153.622 WBM 220.098, MSB 15.42 earthen 199.560, Small CD 864 and Bridges 11 nos. There are many small bridges and culverts works were taken up to give all weather road facilities for development of the Socio-Economic condition of the rural people. 2) Mission/Vision: To improve, construct, repair and restoration of these roads, buildings bridges and culverts, this division receives funds from different sources i.e., State Plan, Non-Plan, NABARD, MPLAD/ MLALAD, NFFWP.CWA.BRGF and PMGSY. According to the availability of the funds in a year the works are taken up accordingly on priority basis to give benefit to the Rural Public. There are 112 Nos. Non-Residential Building, having Plinth area 35543.88 Sqm. and 155 Nos. of Residential Buildings having Plinth area 13535.92 Sqm. It takes construction and repair works of minor and major bridge works. Under RIDF 1 nos. of major bridges were completed under RIDF assistance. 3) Aim & Objective of the Organization: For construction of bridges and improvement of roads under NABARD, proposals have been submitted. To get NABARD Assistance bridge and road proposal for 9 nos. have been submitted to proper quarter. After their approval and receipt of funds works will be taken up. 4) Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY): Rurai Works Division-II, Malkangiri has taken up PMGSY from 2000-2001. The aim of the programme is to give connectivity to the unconnected habitation having population more than 1000 and more than 500. There are Seven blocks under Maikangiri District. 3 Nos. Under the Jurisdiction of the Rural Works Division-II, Malkangiri. The work under PMGSY of this division in Phase-I to Phase-V and ADB Batch-I & II works have been completed. Out of 19 packages in Phase-I to Phase-VIII, 2 nos., packages completed in Phase-II, 2 nos. completed in Phase-III & 2 nos. completed in Phase-IV, 11 nos. work in progress and 2 nos. Package are closed by RD Department due to law & order problem, Under Batch-I & Batch-II out of 5 nos. packages, 5 packages in close due to law & order problem. During 2007-08 under Phase-VII work in PMGSY were in progress except 3 nos. because of non responsive of tender in 2008-09 Phase-VIII, 19 nos. Packages are Non-responed in 2005-06 ADB Batch-II, 6 nos. packages are Non-Responed. The detailed of PMGSY works are as below (Malkangiri District):
