Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aim & Objective of the Organization:
This organization is known as Sambalpur RWS & S Division. It is under the control of Chief Engineer, RWSS, Odisha, Bhubaneswar under the administrative control of R.D Department. The main aim and objective of this organization is to supply safe drinking water to the rural people, under District of Sambalpur.
2. Mission/ Vision:
The Chief Engineer RWSS, Odisha, Bhubaneswar provides funds basing on the budget allocation to improve and maintain PWS Schemes & TW/ SWs. Estimates are prepared by this Division and technical sanction is accorded by the competent authority and works are executed as per provision contained in O.P.W.D. code.
3. Brief History & Background:
The Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Division, Sambalpur was formed in the year 1993. It was earlier functioning as Public Health Investigation Division, Sambalpur since 1987. At present this Division looking after work of drinking water supply in the rural areas of Sambalpur district. In pursuance of Rural Development Department Notification No. 92.289, dt. 7.1.93, this division is now in charge of only the rural water supply of rural areas in the District Sambalpur.
This division consists of two Sub divisions namely:
i. RWSS Sub-Division, Sambalpur with head quarter at Samalpur.ii. Assistant Engineer, RWSS Sub-Division, Rairakhol with head Qrts. At- Rairakhol
4. Allocation of Business:
Funds both under state Plan, centrally sponsored plan and non-plan are received from the Chief Engineer RWSS Odisha, Bhubaneswar details of which are noted below

5. Duties to be performed to achieve the Mission:
Estimates for all the projects identified to be taken up under state plan and non-plan are first prepared and technically sanctioned and get executed by inviting tender.
6. Details of Service Rendered:
The PWS Schemes & spot sources are being maintained by this Division thereby ensuing safe drinking water to the rural people.
