Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aims & Objections of the Organization:

    This organization is known as Bhanjanagar RWS&S Division. It is under the control of Chief Engineer, RWS&S Odisha, Bhubaneswar under the administrative control of R.D. Dept, Odisha. The main aims and objectives of the organization is to provide drinking water facilities to the inhabitants residing in rural areas as well as to the students reading in different schools under the jurisdiction of the division. Besides this division is in charge of providing sanitation facilities to the rural areas.

2. Mission / Vision:

    The Chief Engineer, RWS&S Odisha, Bhubaneswar provides funds basing on the budget and allocation for providing water supply to the rural folks through T.Well/PWS & also repair and maintenance of T. Well/PWS schemes. Estimates are prepared by the division and technical sanction is accorded by the competent authority and works are executed as per provision contained in O.P.W.S codes(s).

3. Brief History & Background:

    This division was created in the year 1976 as Bhanjanagar P.H. Division with aim to provide drinking W/S system to the people living in urban as well as in rural areas with in the service of the division under control of Chief Engineer, RWS&S Odisha, Bhubaneswar, and under the administrative control of housing and urban development dept. Odisha. Subsequently consequent in creation of R.D. Dept. the division has been functioning under the control of Chief Engineer, RWS&S Odisha, Bhubaneswar under the administrative control of R.D. Dept. sine 23-5-91.

    At present this division consists of 3 sub-divisions namely (1) RWS&S Sub-Division, Bhanjanagar with head Quarters at Bhanjanagar. (2) RWS&S Sub-Division, Aska with Head Quarters at Aska. (3) RWS&S Sub-Division, Polosara with Head Quarters at Polosara. The division is headed by the Executive Engineer with head quarters at Bhanjanagar.

4. Allocation of Business:

    Funds under State )Plan, centrally sponsored Plan & Non-Plan are received from the Chief Engineer, RWS&S Odisha, Bhubaneswar details of which are noted below. Plan Scheme:- In order to provide drinking water T. Wells are sank and new schemes for providing PWS are taken up and improvement of existing schemes are taken up.

     Non-Plan:- (a) Repair & Maintenance of T. Wells, (b) R.M. of PWS, (c) Repair to N.R. Buildings, (d) Repair to Residential Building.

The works are being executed by this division in accordance with the provision of O.P.W.D Codes.

5. Duties to be performed to achieve the mission:

    Estimates for all schemes are taken up under Plan & Non-Plan are first prepared & technically sanctioned and works are executed by inviting tenders.

6. Details of Service Rendered:

    The T. Wells and PWS Projects under this division are being improved & maintained by the division ensuring uninterrupted supply of drinking water.

7. Citizen Interaction:

    The division is entrusted with improvement & maintenance of different PWS Projects formulating the plan & programmes. The views of local representatives like MLAs/ Mps/ Zilla Parisad Chairman are taken in to consideration.
