1. Aims and objectives of the organization:-
The Main objective of the Collectorate, Sambalpur is to:
a. Maintenance of Law & orderb. Revenue Collection, distribution of essential commodities, Supervision of Social Welfare, Hearing of appeals Cases, Supervision & inspection of subordinate offices, Police Stations, Jails.c. Monitoring different developmental activities.d. Monitoring rescue operation during emergency like flood, drought and all sort of accidents.e. Different Welfare activities for upliftment of SC & ST community.f. Procurement of paddy and equip distribution of essential commodities.
2. About the Organization:
The Right to Information Act, 2005 enacted by an act of parliament aim to ensuring transparency in administration and credibility and legitimacy of Govt. The act entitles a Civil citizen of India to get the information on administration of the Sambalpur District on Revenue, Establishment, Judicial, Touzi, General & Misc, Record Room, Emergency, Land Acquisition, Forest Settlement, Sport Office, Small Saving Office, Dist. Development Office, Public Grievance from the concerned section of Collectorate, Sambalpur u/s 4 (i) (a) & (c) of said act.
All current records and files are maintained in concerned section with regular maintenance of case records. The consigned records are available in District Record Room.
a. To provide socio economic justice to the weaker section and augmentation of education.b. To achieve targets in different financial benefits extended to voluntary groups.
a. To provide homestead land to the homestead less persons.b. To Provide Govt. waste land for agriculture purpose to the landless persons.c. Rural sanitation & Electrification.d. Promote literacy in the sphere of women & illiterate.e. Promote health of child & women through ICDS Projects.f. Rural connectivityg. To inform and educate people during natural calamities like flood, famine, Cyclone, heat wave etc.h . Besides, this office makes Endeavour's for sensitization on various Government programmers, Public Utility Services, development activities and democratic activities.

6. Working hours both for office and public:
10 A.M to 5 P.M. with lunch break from 1.30 PM to 2 PM both for public and Office. In emergency situation the Office functions for 24 hours. Besides the office remains open from 7 AM to 1 PM during summber days. But the officials are available in any other required circumstances.
