Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

Objective:

After creation of new district, the office is Junction from at. 1.04.1994. the objective of this office is to collect primary and secondary data fro the field from various aspect through field staffs. The detail of scheme operated in this district is mentioned below.

EARAS:

It is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The Area Enumeration & Yield Estimation Survey is done in each Agril. Tear in selected Samples Villages for 16 nos. of programmed crops by the field staffs of this office. And the 20% of samples of villages of this district are covered in each year. After collection of primary data by the field staffs the same are thoroughly scrutinized in the for preparation of estimate.

Socio Economic Survey:

The National Sample Survey (N3S) set by the Government of India in 1.950 to collect socio-economic data employing scientific sampling methods. The sixty-sixth round NSS starts from 1st July 2009 and will continue up to 30th  June 2010.

The 6th round (July 2009-June 2010) of NSS is earmarked for survey on "Employment & Unemployment", "Household   Consumer Expenditure" & "Child Labour". The survey period of this round will be divided in to four sub-round of three months duration.

There are 8 (eight) nos. of Rural Sample Villages in this district to conduct file survey. The fieldwork has been managed by the Statistical Assistant due to the vacant post of Primary Investigator. After completion of field survey the fitted-in-schedules are thoroughly scrutinized in the district office & sent, to Director of Economics & Statistics, Odisha, Bhubaneswar for compilation along with CD.

Fruits & Vegetables Survey:

The Sample Survey on area enumeration & yield estimation under the scheme Fruits & Vegetables is being taken in this district. The area enumeration is being done in- all the selected sample villages under the EARAS. The yield estimation survey is being done in the selected sample villages by the Primary Investigator, Due to the post of Primary Investigator is lying vacant the work has been managed by the SSFI/ SFI.

Price Statistics:

The Time Series Data on various prices of immense use for building up different economic indicators and model through which the oscillation of the economy could be perceived. Besides, price data are also required for estimation of State Domestic Product. With the above objectives in view, the collection scheme is in operation since 1975 in Odisha, at present the following prices are being collected from the selected Primary Markets, feeding villages & Urban Market Canters in this through the Primary Investigator.

  • Collection of Farm Harvest Prices of Agricultural Commodities in the Feeding Villages.
  • Collection of Procedure's Prices of Agricultural Commodities in the Primary Markets/ Feeding Villages.
  • Collection of Wholesale Prices of Agricultural Commodities in the Primary Market.
  • Collection of Procedure's Prices of Domestic Animals and Birds.
  • Collection of Prices of Meat, Fish, Egg, mild and Milk product from the Urban market Center i.e. District Head Quarter.
  • Collection of prices of Animal Products & By- Products from the Urban Market centre i.e. District Head Quarter.
  • Collection of Rural Retail Prices.

Village Index Card Scheme:

In this scheme different kinds of village amenities & facilities are collected through the Prime Investigator from the G.P. Sarpanch/ G.P. Secretary, The 5th round survey has already been completed,
