Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aims and Objectives of the Organization:
The Assistant Registrar of Co-Operative Societies, Gunnupur Circle has been established for overall development and Socio- Economic upliftment of members of Co- Operative Societies under farm and non-farm sector registered under Odisha Co-Operative Societies Act, 1962.
The Aims and Objectives of the circle is to encourage formation of new Co-Operative Societies and ensure successful running of existing areas in pursuance of Co-Operative principles as laid down in schedule-II of the above Act.
2. Mission/ Vision:
The different Co-Operative Societies organized and managed by the members have been helping them in meeting their credit needs, marketing their surplus agricultural products, getting fertilizer, consumer articles at reasonable prices and other facilities. The above activities of the Co-Operative Societies have been assisting the members in improving their living standard and socio-economic status and ensuring regular engagement in farm and non-farm sector.
3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:
For better supervision and efficient functioning of the Co-Operative policies registered under the above Act, a separate circle named Assistant Registrar of Co-Operative Societies, Gunupur circle was opened by bifurcation of Asst. Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Rayagada Circle. The Gunupur Circle started functioning with effect from 01.07.1976 vide INGO No. 11814/AC Dated. 26.06.1976 and continuing till date. The Circle Officer being headed by the Asst. Registrar of Co-Operative Societies, Gunupur Circle, Gunupur has been effectively monitoring and supervising the activities of all types of Co-Operative Societies functioning under the circle.

Executive staff looks after the statutory and supervising duties at field level as well as all legal matter and other non-statutory works in circle office level.
Ministerial staff looks after the administration and establishment matter of the office.
5. Allocation of Business:
The circle office is allocating different works to the executive staff viz. supervision, routine checking of books and accounts of the Co-Operative Societies, their inspection, ensure rectification of audit defects, AGB verification of assets etc. which are aimed to improve the working system of the Co-Operative Societies so that they can better render services to its member.
6. Duties to be performed to achieve the Mission:
The executive staffs are assigned the following duties to strengthen the Co-Operative Societies in pursuing their aims and objectives as envisaged in their bye-laws.
7. Details of services ordered:
Rendering services and guidance for better functioning of Coop. Societies under their circle as per provision of OCS Act & Rules and taking up statutory works for hearing dispute cases and taking of execution proceedings.
