Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Brief History of the Organization: This Division administers the following Acts, Rules and Regulations made there under: i) The Factories Act, 1948ii) The Boilers, Act, 1923iii) The Odisha Factories Rules, 1950iv) The Odisha Factories (Control of Major Accident Hazard) Rules, 2001v) Indian Boiler Regulations, 1950vi) Odisha Boiler Attendants' Rules, 1956vii) Odisha Boiler Rules, 1971viii) Odisha Boiler Operation Engineers Rules, 2000ix) Building & other Construction workers (RECS) Act, 1996. The Factories Act, 1948 is basically aimed at ensuring safety, health and welfare of the workers working in different factories of the State, whereas the Indian Boilers Act, Rules and Regulations made there under regulate the design, quality during manufacturing, erection, operation, repair and maintenance of boiler in order to ensure safety at work place. Also to work implement the provision of section VI & VII of the Building & other Construction workers Act. 1996 & Rules framed there under. Besides the above, the Cuttack Division generates safety and health awarness among the workers of the factory by way of conducting seminars, training programmes, periodical health checkup of workers etc.awareness on safety & health of the workers is being generated by way of conducting seminars, training programmes, periodical health check up of workers, etc. 2.
