Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aims & Objectives of the Organization:
Basically District Industries Centre is a Promotional Agency. The main objective of the DIC is to create sustainable employment by encouraging/monitoring unemployed youths to earn their livelihood by establishing, MSME units. Handicrafts & Cottage Industries Cottage Industries & small Services Business enterprises through different schemes like Prime Ministers' Employment Generation Programme & Rehabilitation of Handicraft Artisans and Self Employment Programmes.
2. Mission/ Vision:
a) Identification of project.
b) Preparation of feasibility report.
c) Identification of Entrepreneurs and arrangement of training whenever required.
d) Recommendation of loan proposals to financing institutions.
e) Grant of (EM-I & EM-II).
f) Arrangement of Govt. land/ shed/ power, water etc.
g) Supply of requisite information on purchase of machinery.
h) Arrangement of supply of scare raw-material to MSME units.
i) Providing incentive under the IPR, like Subsidy, Exemption on OST/ CST and ED.
j) Recommendation of rate contract and marketing assistance with Director, EP & M.
k) Provide Technical/ Managerial guidance for management of MSME units.
l) Revival of Sick units.
m) To assist unemployed youth to go in for any profitable venture under PMEGP.
n) Recommendation for grant of ancillary registration for supply of Store item to Large & medium Industries like RSP, MCL etc.
o) To generate employment opportunity in rural area through REGP/ SEP of Khadi & Village Industries Board.
p) Development of Handicrafts & Cottage Industries.
3. Brief History & Background for its Establishment:
District Industries Centre, Sundargarh was set up during year 1978 with the entire area of Sundargarh District. In the year 1983, the DIC was bifurcated into two separate DICs i.e. DIC Sundargarh & DIC Rourkela. The DIC, Sundargarh is headed by General Manager DIC & DIC, Rourkela is under the control of Project Manager, DIC Rourkela.
The DIC, Sundargarh started functioning with effect from 1st April 1983 within the area of Sundargarh Sub-division consisting of 09 Blocks i.e. Sundargarh (Sadar), Tangarpali, Lephripara, Hemgir, Subdega, Balisankara, Bargaon, Kutra & Rajgangpur and two Municipality with Rajgangpur & Sundargarh.
