Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aims and Objectives of the Organization:
To look after the health, sanitation, water supply, roads, safety and public convenience of the citizen of the urban inhabitants. This includes improvement and up-gradation of the socio-economical status of the Urban Poor.
2. Mission/Vision:
Local Self Government under the statute consisting of the local people as representatives to the Council for carrying out the functions as provided under the Odisha Municipal Act/ Rules, for the public health, safety and convenience of the citizens of the town.
3. History and Background for Its Establishment:
This Municipality was constituted during the year 1951 vide Notification No.3298/ HUD Dt.2.2.1968 as NAC and converted to Municipality with effect from Dt.31.8.1989 vide Notification No.30211/ HUD Dt.29.8.1989. The total area of this Municipality is 42.73 Sq.K.M. Altogether 07 revenue villages are coming under this Municipality. There are 23 wards in this Municipality. The total population of the Municipality is 76959, out of which 40319 are male and 36640 are female as per 2001 Census.

5. Organization Chart:
The Brajarajnagar Municipality is the head of the Department as per Rule 428 of Odisha Municipal Rules, 1953. The Chairperson is the head of the Department.
The Executive Officer is the Controlling Officer. The following sections work under this Brajarajnagar Municipality:
1. General Office Establishment including bills and budget headed by a Establishment & Account Section.2. Public work section section: the Municipal Engineer heads this section comprising one Municipal engineer, Three Junior Engineer out of which one is under deputation fro Town Panning Deptt, and another appointed as Consolidate basis for BRGF Scheme, Two Work Sarkar will assist the Engineers.3. Tax Section: One Steno has been kept incharge of Tax Daroga is the section head assisted by 18 TCs and 20 Asst. Tax collector & 9 peons.
6. Sanitation:
One Tax Collector is kept in charge of supervision of Sanitation work assisted by one Tax Collector. He supervises the work of 77 Sweepers, to supervise the work of Sweepers, 2 nos of Tractors, 4 Auto tipper of the Brajarajnagar municipality lift the garbage's of the town.
