1. Aims and Objectives of the Organization:
To look after the health, sanitation, water supply, roads, safety and public convenience of the citizen of the urban inhabitants. This includes improvement and up-gradation of the socio-economical status of the Urban Poor's
2. Mission/ Vision:
Local Self Government under the statute consisting of the local people as representatives to the Council for carrying out the functions as provided under the Odisha Municipal Act/ Rules, for the public health, safety and convenience of the citizens of the town
3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:
This Municipality was constituted under Mayurbhanj State Regulation-2 of 1905 with effect from 01.07.1905 and subsequently taken over by the Govt. on 01.01.1949 after major of Ex-State Mayurbhanj. Initially this Municipality comprises of only one revenue village namely Baripada with an area of 5.18 Sq.k.m. Subsequently, 17 villages were included in the Municipality as per the Govt. in U.D. Department Letter No.31655 dt.09.08.91
