5) Main Activities/ Functions:

i) Preparation & implementation of Area Development Plans and Projects for ensuring scientific land & use pattern.
ii) Working as a coordinating agency between various Govt. Depts & other agencies involved in development activities.
iii) Development of land including acquisition for various purposes in suitable locations based on an assessment of future needs, control of land sub-division & re-construction of plots wherever necessary.
iv) Determining the phasing of development.
v) Providing open space & other recreational facilities depending on the needs of the region.

6) Details of Services:

a) Acquisition of land by purchase, lease or otherwise & to erect thereon such buildings or to carry out such operations as may be necessary for the purpose of carrying on its objects.
b) Construction, maintenance, extension, management and conduct of:-
i) Any undertaking for the generation or supply and distribution or for both of electricity to the public.
ii) Any undertaking for providing adequate water supply.
c) Disposal of Sewage and manufactures of Sewage gas.
d) Layout or re-layout of vacant or built-up land covered by the scheme.
e) Filling up or reclamation of low-lying swampy or unhealthy areas or leveling of land.
f) Layout of new streets or roads & construction, diversion, expansion, alteration, improvement or closure of streets road, traffic, island & communications.
g) Construction, re-construction, alteration, improvement and maintenance of building, Public streets, bridges, culverts, cause-ways and other structures.
h) Assembling, relaying out and re-distribution of property comprised in the scheme.
i) Lighting, watering and cleaning or streets & other public places.
j) Allotment or reservation of land for roads open spaces, gardens, recreational grounds, schools, markets, green-belt and desires transport facilities & public purpose of all kinds,
k) Undertaking housing schemes for different income groups, commercial areas, industrial estates and similar type of development.
l) Construction of roads and highways,
m) Construction of Schools and Educational Institutions.
n) Construction and management of Industrial Estates or Shopping Centre's, method of financing & other allied matters,
o) Acquisition by purchase, exchange or other wise of any property necessary for or effected by the execution of the scheme,
p) Provision for drainage & Irrigation works.
q) Closure or demolition of dwelling or options of dwelling unfit for human habitation.
r) Demolition of obstructive buildings or obstructive property of buildings,
s) All lease, exchange or auction of any property comprised in the scheme,
t) Provision of sanitary arrangements required for the area comprised in the scheme including drains, disposal of waste and refuse and the conservation of land provision of injury or contamination to rivers or other sources and means water supply.
u) Advance of money for the purpose of the scheme.
v) Preservation of objects of historical or national interest or natural beauty land of buildings actually used for religious purposes.
w) Planning & care of trees on road sides & elsewhere,
x) Construction & maintenance of rest houses, poor houses, infirmity, children's homes houses for the deaf and dumb and for disabled and handicapped children & shelters for destitute and disabled persons.
