Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. History of the Public Authority:
The Central Range is one of the integral part of the Odisha Police and this is one of the largest Police Range of our Country. It is headed by I.G. of Police, Central Range, Cuttack. This Range comprising of seven important Districts of the State. They are Cuttack, Puri, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh and Khordha. All the seven Districts are working under the supervision of I.G. of Police, Central Range, Cuttack. The jurisdiction of the Central Range has been fixed by the Govt.
2. Allocation of Business:
Director General & Inspector General of Police is the overall head of the Range. I.G.P. supervised the work and activities and all the Districts Ss.P and take a stock of the Law and Situation, Criminal Activities, Naxalites problems and Maoist Activities and briefing the officers about rendering security to the VVIPS during their visits and maintenance of Law and Order during celebration of festivals like Rath Yatra at Puri and Laxmi Puja at Kendrapara etc. I.G.P. inspects all the Police Stations, SDPO offices and DPO at the regular interval for Polished Administration.
3. Details of Services Rendered:
Any public person can appear in grievance before the I.G.P. on any working day during the Office hour. The petition received from the petitioner is sent to concerned Ss.P for prompt enquiry and submit report for necessary redressal. Recently a public contact system has been introduced for gating the report from the enquiring officer so as to apprise the petitioner about the follow-up action taken on their complaints.
