1. The College Crest: Our mission and motto are embodied in our Crest: "Shraddhaabaan Labhate jaanam tatparah Sanyatendryah Jaanam Labdhwa Paraam Shantimachirenadhigachhati" One Who is full of love, Who is devoted to it, And who has subdued the senses, Obtains knowledge, Ere long one gains eternal bliss. The rising Sun signifies the light of Wisdom/knowledge which dispels the gloom of ignorance and liberates the soul from the bondage of darkness. The open book represents the eternal quest for knowledge. The soaring rocket symbolizes the ceaseless efforts of mankind to know the unknown and the conch for fearless proclamation of truth. Dalmia College, Rajgangpur was established in the year 1970 at Jharbeda campus under Kutra Block in Sundargarh district of Odisha around a sylvan background and verdour of forest and hills.The College owes its origin to the efforts and initiative of Sri S. Sundar Rajan, I.A.S., the then Collector of Sundargarh.The College building is situated In a compact campus of 29.6 acres approximately 10 k.m. away from Rajgangpur town on the State Highway No. 10..It provides teaching facilities up to degree stage in Arts,Science and Commerce. It provides teaching facility to Higher Secondary and under-graduate students admitted to various courses approved by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur University, Odisha and ensure their wholesome education through extra-curricular activities and sports. It is an aided Non-Govt.College established in 1970.It is also a constituent College of Sambalpur University and included under Section 2(f) and Section 12B of the UGC Act before 17th June, 1972. The Rajgangpur College,Rajgangpur acquired its new name Dalmia College, Rajgangpur in 1980 and vested its governance initially on the managing Committee and later on a Governing Body duly constituted as per the provision of the Government, Department of Higher Education,Odisha,Bhubaneswar.At its inception the college had only a strength of 64 students in two faculties Arts and Commerce.But there has been rapid and steady improvement of both the facilities.The Science faculty opened during the academic session1980-81. It's a multi-faculty and co-educational college, having at present approximately 1700 students on its roll in various courses. Facilities for honours teaching have been provided in English, Odia, Pol.Science ,History, Economics, Philosophy , Commerce ,Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Mathematics. Being located in an area predominantly inhabited by tribal and backward classes, the college provides an unique opportunity to them for higher education.With the switch over to 10+2+3 pattern of Education, +2 and +3 classes were started in the college from 1983-84 and 1985-86 respectively.Consequent upon the separation of +2 and +3 wings in 2009, the +2 wing has been named as Dalmia Junior College, Rajgangpur: jharbeda campus and +3 wing has been named as Dalmia Degree College, Rajgangpur: Jharbeda Campus. The present massive and majestic building donated by Messers Dalmia ,Odisha Cement Limited,Rajgangpur was inaugurated on 30th August 1981 by Sri Janaki Ballav Pattnaik,the then Chief Minister of Odisha with Sri Gangadhar Mohapatra,the then Minister, Education and Sri Kishore Chandra Patel,the then Minister, Industries as Guests of honour. During forty two years of its existence the college has provided higher education to the poor needy students of the locality.Many students having completed their education in this college have established themselves in different fields of the society.The college itself has also grown in different aspects.It has now better infrastrusture,a gymnasium,a sports complex,a well furnised air conditioned Computer laboratory with local net working, two ladies hostels, one boys'hostel,housing for the staff,Guest house, Canteen, Drinking water/aqua guard and water cooler, two- wheeler shed, Cycle shed, Drama pendal, beautiful Lawns, automated students service, generator, education in computer, computerization of office and library, post office,e-admission under SAMS for both +2 and +3 etc. The College is NAAC accredited with B+ Grade. Now the college is short listed for being a college with potential for excellence and for autonomous status. 2. Vision Statements: The true knowledge liberates the individual from the shackles of ignorance /envy, hatred and narrow-mindedness. Our vision is to mould young minds through education and shape them into citizens who not only excel in the skills they have acquired but are also aware of their responsibility towards society, our country and the World. We wish to send out from the precincts of this college young individuals who throb to the tune o Vasudheiba Kutumbakam. 3. Aim and Objective of the College: The main objective of this institution is to disseminate knowledge to the students in different fields through all round personality development of individual learner. It also aims at promoting human values and assisting the preservation of culture and tradition. Our goal is to awaken the tribal community and integrate them into the mainstream, It will help to promote scientific temperament among the tribal while keeping their roots intact and tapping the hidden potentials in particular and rural masses in general.
