1. Brief History and background of the establishment:
The Braja Sundar Higher Secondary School, Sayedpur the first of its kind in the Jajpur region, had its humble beginning in 1987 in the name of Late Braja Sunder Das,the celebrated poet, patriot, pioneer of "Swatantra Utakal Pradesh". Secretary of "Utkal Samillani" and the founder of "Mukura Press".The institution was founded upon donations collected from his family members and from the enthusiastic public in the neighborhood.
The institution from beginning adopted co-education system in (+2) Arts and two other streams (+2) Science and (+2) commerce were opened in 1990 and 1991 respectively. There 256 seats in (+2) Arts and 64 each in (+2) Science and (+2) commerce. All the streams have been recognized by the Government of Odisha and affiliated to the council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha, Bhubaneswar permanently vide Govt. Notification No. 1564/HE dt.01.05.2004 and order No.2658/ RDE dt.09.07.2004. The Govt. Junior (+2) Vocational stream came into being from the session 2006-07 with two disciplines, Electricals and Domestic Appliance (EDA) and Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
It is worthy to note that the +2 institution has entered into the Grant-in Aid fold from 01.06.1994.
This year (2011-12), the Higher Secondary School completed its 24 years. The present students strength of this institution is about 700 with 22 teaching staff and 20 nos. of non-teaching staff.
