1. Brief history of the Public Authority:
Established in 1944 as Balasore College, the college was renamed Fakir Mohan College in 1949 as a tribute to the great poet and Novelist Fakir Mohan Senapati. One of the Premier educational institutions of the district of Balasore and a front-ranking college in the state of Odisha, it provides teaching facilities in Humanities, social sciences, physical sciences, commerce and the latest fields like computer science, management and add-on courses like Business English and Journalism and Mass Communication. The college celebrated its silver jubilee in 1972, Golden Jubilee in 1995 and Diamond Jubilee in 2004. Autonomy to the college was conferred in 1999 and the same has been extended upto 2015. The college has been accredited by NAAC with B++ Grade and subsequently declared as a center with potential for Excellence (CPE) by UGC.
2. Aim & Objectives of the Public Authority:
The basic objective of this institution is to impart knowledge in various disciplines along with talking care for the holistic development of the learners. Research, state and national level seminars and extra-mural lectures contribute to the intellectual enrichment of members of staff and students.
