Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Brief History of the Office:

    After creation of this district Koraput, the office of the Chief District Medical Officer, Koraput, has been functioning since 1.4.1993 in the premises of old Hospital building. Now the Hospital is running in a new building. There are 7 nos. of different wings are functioning such as Family Welfare, Public Health, Medical, National Rural Health Mission, Tuberculosis, AIDS, District Blindness Control Society etc. under the establishment of the C.D.M.O. Koraput. Total No of Block PHC/ CHC/ UG. PHC is 14 nos. District Central Store for Drugs & Consumable also functioning. Red Cross Blood Bank also working.

The following wing officers also working under different wings named as:

i) Assistant District Medical Officer (Family Welfare & Immunization)
ii) Assistant District Medical Officer (Public Health/ Malaria/ Filaria)
iii) Assistant District Medical Officer (Medical)
iv) District Programme Manager, DBCS
v) District Tuberculosis Officer
vi) District Programme Manager, NRHM
vii) District Programme Manager, AIDS

2) Brief History of the District Family Welfare Bureau:

    From the inception of Koraput Dist., the section was functioning at Koraput. Now the section is functioning in the Office of the Chief District Medical Officer, Koraput and Dr. Kamalini Mohapatra (Asst. District Medical Officer, FW/ Imm.), Koraput is the Head of section and remain in-charge of this section.

3) Brief History of ADMO (Med.) Koraput:

    District Head Quarters Hospital, Koraput started as Dispensary in 1908 in an Old Building. It was upgraded to Local Fund Hospital in 1937 with 47 beds. It was shifted to present building in 25.10.04. Presently it has 165 sanctioned beds. This is the referral hospital for Un-Divided Koraput District.

4) Function & Duties of District Family Welfare Bureau:

    Consequent upon implementation of community needs assessment approach (CNAA) under RCH programme, lunching of NRHM scheme & different schemes/ projects, the work activities under FW programme of the District has been increased. It needs to promote the quality of the programme implementation, timely monitoring and evaluating programme, submission of qualitative report, so a comprehensive integrated HMIS spanning up all levels of FW statistics has to be developed.

    In order to make success of the programme implementation, the job responsibilities of the staff working under the FW section of the District Level needs to be improved.

5) Working Hours of the Office:

From 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, both for Office & Public.
