Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1. Aims and objectives of the Organization:

(a) Land Development including insitu moisture conservation measures like contour and graded bunds, followed by vegetation, bench terracing in hilly terrain.
(b) Drainage line treatment with a combination of biological and engineering measures.
(c) Development of small Water Harvesting Structure such as low cost farm ponds, nallha bunds, check-dams and percolation tanks etc.
(d) A forestation including Block plantation, Avenue plantation, Sanddune stabilization.

2. Mission/ Vision:

Watershed Development Programme under N.W.D.P.R.A., I.W.D.P.   & D.P.A.P. Scheme:

(a) Utilied the available land through Watershed Development Programme such as N.W. D.P.R.A., I.W.D.P., DPAP without any environmental degradation conserve as much as rain water as possible in the place where it falls without disturbing the natural Hydrological system.
(b) To increase in the ground water level and maintaining it for sustainable use.
(c) The prevent soil erosion by means of suitable afforestation, Agro Forestry Horticulture, Development Programme should be encouraged and deforestation and Village level should be discouraged.
(d) Repair, Restoration and up gradation of existing common property assets and Structures in the village to obtain optimum and sustain benefits from previous public Investment.
(e) Awareness among the people to be developed for livestock management, Pisyiculture to reduce labour infiltration and solve labour employment.
(f) To reduce labour migration and solve labour employment.

3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:

     The Soil Conservation Sub-Division Office. Bargarh was created Vide Government in Director of Agriculture and Food Production Odisha Notification No. 38780 AG Dated 27/11/96 and started functioning with effect from dated 06.07.1998. The Office is covering through out the Bargarh District having  1185 Revenue villages covering 8 blocks.
