1) Brief History & Background of its Establishment: Office of the Asst. Soil Conservation Officer, Baripada has started its functioning since 28.03.1963 & now under the control of Soil Conservation Officer, Baripada under the Directorate of Soil Conservation, Odisha, Bhubaneswar under Agriculture Department, Govt. of Odisha. At present Office of the Asst. Soil Conservation Officer, Baripada is functioning in its own Govt. building located at Ward No. 17, Bhanjpur (Near Bhanjpur Girls' High School), PIN-757002 and the Office Telephone No. is 06792-260776. There are 14 Nos. of Soil Conservation Ranges functioning at different Block Head Quarters for smooth implementation of Soil Conservation works.

2) Main objective of Soil Conservation Sub-Division, Baripada:
i) To execute different Soil and Water Conservation measures in the above 14 Nos. of Blocks.ii) Management of Watershed Development Programme.iii) To take different Plantation Programmes like Bamboo, Sabal, Cashew, Misc. Tree, Avenue etc.iv) Pasture Development Activities.v) Demonstration Centre for exhibiting different Soil Conservation activities.vi) Soil Conservation measures such as construction of WHS, GCS, DW, PT, Silt Retention dam, Ravine reclamation, Farm Ponds, SRMS, Field Bunding etc.vii) Maintenance of existing plantation and other farms developed by Soil Conservation Organization.
