1. Name of the Office:

Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, Athagarh.

2. Reporting Office: Directorate of Soil Conservation Odisha, Bhubaneswar.

3. Functions:

a. Soil and Water Conservation.

b. Soil Erosion Control Measures.

c. Watershed Development Measures.

d. Demonstration of Soil and Water Conservation Measures.

e. Drainage line Treatment.

f. Providing labour opportunity through labour intensive works.

g. Encouragement of Self Employment through Community mobilization and formation of SHG.

4. Duties/ Activities:

a. Different plantations like Cashew, Miscellaneous etc.

b. Soil Conservation Measures like Field Bunding, Land Development, Gully Control Measures, Water Harvesting Structure, S.B.E.C., Farm Ponds, Silt Retention Dams Bench terracing etc. for insitu Conservation of Moisture.

c. Training to watershed dwellers on activities taken up inside the watershed are for encouraging self employment through community mobilization.

d. Promotes live Saving Irrigation.

e. The whole machinery is discharging its duties for interest of public service in the field of Soil and Water Conservation.

6. Organizational Structure:

a. The Soil Conservation Sub-Division Athgarh, consists of Six Blocks Namely Athgarh, Tigiria, Badamba, Narsinghpur, Banki (I), Banki (II).

b. The Head Quarters of the Sub-Division is at Athgarh.

c. It is under the control of Director, Soil Conservation Odisha, Bhubaneswar under the Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Odisha.
