Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:

     To promote fruit, vegetable production & flower & transfer of modern technology from lab to land feedback from lab to land.

2. Mission/ Vision statement of the Public Authority:

     To increase the productivity & production of different fruit, vegetable of flower crops in order to cater the demand of the growing population.

3. Brief history of the Public Authority and context of its formation:

     The Office started functioning with effect from 09.10.1991 as Deputy Director of Horticulture, Kalahandi Range, Bhawanipatana with administrative power over the Kalahandi & Nuapada District.

4. Duties of the Public Authority:

i) Transfer of modern technology through interaction with the farmers conducting different training programmes/ group discussion/ exposure visit inside & outside the state/ execution of different schemes as and when entrusted by the Govt.
ii) Quality planting material supply.
iii) By exhibiting & demonstrating making popularization of Drip, Sprinkler, farm tools & equipments among the farmers to facilitate farming.
iv) Increasing entrepreneurship development among the farmers.

5. Main Activities/ Functions of the Public Authority:

     To popularize different fruit crop cultivation & so also vegetable, different flower etc & this to increase the productivity of the locality.

6. List of services being provided by the Public Authority with a brief write up on them:

a) Transfer of modern technology from lab to land.
b) Supply of quality planting materials to the farmers.
c) Creating awareness among the public.
d) Keeping liaison with the line deptts. to fulfill the basic requirements of the Horticultural needs of the public.
e) Augmenting knowledge through exposure visits, field demonstration field days etc.

7. Expectation of the Public Authority from the Public for enhancing its Effectiveness and Efficiency:

     Whole-hearted participation and co-operation from the public in various on going schemes/ programmes as well as full recommendation of practices

8. Arrangements and methods made for seeking Public Participation/ Contribution:

     Arrangements & methods made for seeking public participation/ contribution, interactions with the farmers are being held in different training programmes/ group discussion/ field visits/ exposure visits/ exhibitions etc.
