1. Brief History of the Public Authority and context of its Formation:
The District Agriculture Office, Sonepur is established during the year 1971 in its won department building situated at Sonepur Block Chowk. This Office comes under the Director of Agriculture and Food Production, Odisha, Bhubaneswar and is functioning under the administrative control of the Deputy Director of Agriculture, Sonepur.
As this District possesses one of the best perennial sources of water in Odisha. The Agriculture Department has been playing a vital role to increase the Agricultural production and improve the financial status of the farmers of this district, by adopting new modern technology.
2. Duties of the Public Authority:
The duties of the officials are mainly based on extension activities which are disseminated to the cultivators through the field functionaries by conducting meeting Exhibition,Training, seminar, workshop, Bi-weekly trainings exposure visit Programmes and Awareness Campaign.
The Duties of the ministerial staff are to keep records and documents and preparation of reply in proper and systematic manner.
3. Functions:
This office has been functioning since 1971. The District Agriculture Officer has been declared as the Head of office.
The following staff has been working in this office including field functionaries under the control of District Agriculture Officer, Sonepur.
